THE MORNING MOUTH, JOCKLINE DAILY, March 10, 2016:

[Jockline Daily]  PODCASTING IS THE NEW BLACK: As a follow-up to this past weekend’s Talk Show Boot Camp in Ft. Lauderdale, this week we’re sharing some of the top takeaways. Among the highlights includes Pierre Bouvard and Steve Goldstein’s highly lauded ‘Podcasting is the New Black' Session.

Bouvard tells Jockline: ’Podcast usage is soaring. Just this week, Edison Research issued their annual podcast audience data from their “Infinite Dial” study. Monthly podcast audiences soared 24% increasing from 17% in 2015 to 21% in 2016. So today, one out of five Americans listens to podcasting in a typical month. That’s a 75% increase over 2013.”

Podcasting is skyrocketing in interest from both consumers and advertisers, yet, until now, we’ve known little about the podcast listener. Westwood One’s “State of the American Podcasting” report examined a number of data sources, including a custom study from Ipsos and a special cross tabulation from Edison Research’s quarterly “Share of Ear” study. In that study, Edison estimates podcasts reach 5% of all Americans 13+ daily. Initial findings, published recently in Advertising Age, show the podcast listener is young, educated, and using their mobile phones to listen. Click here for the Five Latest Takeaways.
