Apple is the giant of podcasting, with 65% of all traffic running through the iTunes platform.  But Apple doesn't share much data with content providers and remains somewhat disconnected from the business they essentially created.  In spite of consumer growth, the lack of data has retarded the economic growth of the business.

Unlike downloads of music, movies and apps, Apple doesn't derive any revenue from podcasts.
