The pundits are all over the place on whether Apple Music is a game-changer (will people pay $120 per year?), but no matter, it heightens the noise in this sector. It also introduces an interesting worldwide radio station Beats 1. The slogan is provocative - "Not just radio reimagined, but radio like you have never imagined." Yesterday's debut had a lot of energy and a buzzy feel. We'll have to see what happens with the music over time, yesterday seemed deep and often obscure, but it makes a statement. Most significantly, there is no gray area -- this is radio.
